Tid og rom for likestilling? : En kvalitativ studie av likestillingsarbeid sett i lys av barnehagens struktur
Abstract
Background and purpose of the project The purpose of this study has been to investigate whether structural factors in kindergarten can affect gender equality in the children's group. Status reports from the kindergarten field show that gender equality is proving challenging in practiceand my research aims to look into what may be the reasons for this. Looking at the kindergarten structure, specifically time and space, I wanted to look at the role of time frames and different rooms in the gender equality issue.
My research question is:
What significance can the kindergarten's structural form have for the implementation of gender equality work among children?
Method, selection and analysis
I have chosen a qualitative research design as it seeks deeper understanding and goes in depth into a phenomena. My selection of informants has consisted of kindergarten staff and data is mainly obtained through observation and informal conversations. All data was documented via field notes, which formed the basis for the analysis. I have chosen a thematic analysis form where I have categorized themes and studied the data.
Results and conclusion Important findings are that time and space prove to be most challenging in the kindergarten transition situation. This seems to be related to culture, power and awareness.
Key words:
