dc.description.abstract | This master thesis studies the barriers and solutions that organizations might encounter during
projects that have the goal to increase sustainability. This exploratory study is based on
interviews with Norwegian firms that differ in sizes and industry they operate in, and a
literature review for comparison. Projects are a significant part of the Norwegian economy
and have historically been a good tool for companies to enhance their technology and. With
the world now acknowledging the dangers of global warming, every business needs to
participate in reducing pollution and becoming sustainable to meet established goals.
Sustainability project management has become a crucial aspect of many organizations as they
strive to meet the challenging requirements of becoming sustainable. Although the
combination between projects and sustainability looks like a good match, the reality is that
many firms struggle to successfully carry out sustainable project management, and the
reasons for this are not thoroughly explored. Our study sets to recognize concrete problems
that occur when conducting sustainable projects and try to understand what makes the
integration of sustainability into project management so difficult. To better understand these
barriers, we will gather information about success factors and see if there are differences
between the industry sectors. | |
