dc.description.abstract | There is an increasing amount of studies on teachers' views on the use of L1 in the L2 classroom, while there are few studies on students' opinions on the topic. This study aims to explore Norwegian students' perceptions of the use of L1 in the L2 classroom, focusing on which situations and for what purposes they prefer L1 to be used. Three hundred and fifty students from different parts of Norway have participated in the study, and the results show that most students find the use of L1 helpful, seeing the L1 as a tool for language learning. | |
