dc.description.abstract | Between the controlled and the uncontrolled –Afreeing processis a Master's Thesis written by Camilla Rennesund for the Faculty of Fine Arts, by the University of Agder. The thesis deals with a qualitative study of liberation within the visual arts, with her own artistic practice as an example. A journey from the tightly controlled to the free and uncontrolled, and finally the encounter between these two aspects. The achievement of the liberation takes place strategically through three phases: material exploration, the randomised system of I Ching, and ultimately intuition. The Beat Culture is a load bearing wall for liberation and will be a recurring theme throughout the thesis. The thesis is largely based on auto-ethnographic empirical data with a phenomenological approach as an important aid for the dissemination of artistic practice. In addition to the empirical data in the form of a journal, she brings in the turning point analysis atthe end of each phase to see where in the process liberation was achieved. The artistic research is shown as a process in an exhibition, as the project is not to be regarded as a finished result, rather as a step further into her own artistic practice. | nb_NO |
