The building and construction industry is one of the least digitalized industries globally. One of the reasons for the mentioned statement is due to the industry being conservative and maintaining traditional methods rather than adapting newer innovations. The main aim of this master’s thesis is to investigate how digitalization technologies within the topic digitalization affect the building and construction industry. In order to realize this, two different sub-questions were conducted and addressed. The sub-questions investigated both opportunities and challenges related to the usage of a variety of digitalization technologies in the industry. Three different methodologies were conducted in this report to obtain the results related to the research question and its sub-questions. The utilized methods were literature review, case study and semi-structured interviews. The conclusion of this report determined that the usage of digitalization technologies could among other things contribute to the industry with enhanced productivity and efficiency levels. In addition, improvements in cost, time and safety management were also stated. However, the utilization of the investigated technologies can be expensive due to high initial costs and maintenance requirements. The technologies can also have challenges such as being immature and complex to adapt in the industry.
