In order to lower mooring costs, this master's thesis examines the technical and economic feasibility of a shared mooring system for a dual-spar Floating Offshore Wind Farm (FOWF) in the North Sea area. The suggested approach includes a model choice, technical analysis, economic analysis including economic maps that take limitations and outcomes into account. The study evaluates the technical, financial, and safety viability of the mooring system design. The primary research issue is “How to design a mooring system for a dual-spar FOWF. SIMA software is used for dynamic response analysis, MATLAB and Excel are used to determine ultimate and fatigue limit states, and the utilization factor, fatigue damage, and fatigue life are computed to determine how resilient the system is. The findings highlight the significance of striking a balance between safety and affordability when developing a mooring system for a FOWF. It is necessary to consider elements like platform type, position, environment, utility size, anchoring characteristics, and mooring line diameter. Additionally, the findings show that the system's resistance to environmental conditions and the estimation of financial expenses are impacted by anchor mass capacity, material mass, and other factors. The research suggests utilizing design check methods to evaluate the needs for fatigue life and enhance the design standards for upcoming projects. This study was conducted based on the results previously obtained in my pre-master's project. The aim is to facilitate holistic-design of a shared mooring system for FOWFs.
