dc.description.abstractResearch about history as a subject and how it is practiced in upper secondary school in Norway is lacking. This thesis`s goal is to begin and add to the research situation. To do so, I have completed a case study of one teacher in two different groups in an upper secondary school. Both groups have followed the expiring Kunnskapsløftet 2006, but the knowledge acquired will also be beneficial with the implementation of Kunnskapsløftet 2020. The overall research question of the case study is History as a subject in upper secondary school in Norway. A case study of goals, teaching situations, and assessment. I was a passive observer during a three-week period. During that time, I collected data material which ranged from minutes from meetings, teaching materials, student tests, and personal notes from the observation. Chapter three is my analysis and where the obtained data is presented. Chapter four discusses the findings of the previous chapter in light of relevant theory, law, and curriculum.
