The purpose of this master's thesis is to investigate how crossover fiction is understood through analyzes of three literary works. Therefore, the research question isas follows: How can we analyze three different works to contribute to an understanding of the concept of crossover fiction? I will use Erlend Loes Kurtby, Lisa Aisato's Livet -illustrertand Oscar K. and Dorte Karrebæks Lejrentoshed light on the topic. The theoretical basis for the thesis is the research of some selected people on crossover fiction -Jon Fosse, Åse Marie Ommundsen, Sandra Beckett, Barbra Wall, and Maria Nikolajeva. In addition to this, I use Wolfgang Iser's thoughts on reception theory, and picture book theory as the three selected literary works I will analyze contain illustrations and pictures. To find an answer to myresearch question, I have chosen to analyze the three writings becausethey belong to Ommundsen's three categories of crossover fiction: naive, existential and complex. I will justify why they can categorize as such, and argue for, or perhaps against, that they can be called crossover fiction. Therefore, my thesis is structured so that it first comeswith atheory and method chapter, followed by three analysis chapters and finally a short comparative summary of the three books and a final conclusion.Through analyzes of the three books, one gains a greater understanding of the concept of crossover fiction. The understanding of the term will grow by looking at, among other things, narrator inquiry, linguistic design, illustrations, and references. I find out whom the books are written for during the thesis, and the three works correspond with Ommundsen's three categorizations of all-age literature.
