Petermann, M. (2021) Krysslaminert massivtre som bærende struktur i modulbaserte studentboliger : FEM analyse av modulbaserte studentboliger i krysslaminert massivtre (Master's thesis). University of Agder, GrimstadSammendrag
This is a master’s thesis conducted at the University in Agder as the finishing work for the subject BYG508 and the master program in civil and structural engineering. This report seeks to examine some possibilities that exists with the use of Cross-laminated timber, CLT for modern student accommodation with the use of Finite element method, FEM software. With the increased interest in new building materials,it is important to examine the possibilities that lies within these materials and experiment and analyze to determine their usefulness. Based on the client’s wishes, the research question for this report was determined to be: “how suitable is CLT as load bearing structure for modular based student housing taller than 4 floors” The report details background in the knowledge and production of CLT, applicable loads, the concept of modular building and how CLT and its connections are modeled and used in analysis programs. The conclusion of this report is that 100 mm CLT panels used as load bearing structure in the form of walls, floor and ceiling in modular student housing is suitable for this purpose from a strength perspective up to an analyzed 7 floors.
