Effekten av affekt : Emosjonar og forteljestruktur i lørdagsstubbane til Alf Prøysen

Abstract

The stubb1of Alf Prøysen often utilize emotions as a driving force for both action and understanding. This thesis examines how various emotions appear in the texts and what role the different emotions have in texts of this genre. The emotions are examined through an analysis of eight chosen texts within three central motifs connected with emotionality. The stubbs of Prøysen is a hybrid genre. Both the literary tools and shape is a combination of traits from many other genres. They give the emotional aspects a vital role. The form of the stubbs is, therefore, a fundamental part of the understanding of them. Per Thomas Andersen has developed a Norwegian system of terms for affective narratology. This will be the leading theory in this thesis. The analyses will be centered around terms like emotional room and performative and analytic emotionality. Affective narratology will be used together with Martha Nussbaum’s theory about the emotional function of literature. She argues that the shape of the text is important for how we perceive literature and that the purpose of literature should be to affect the reader to the highest degree possible. Together with Andersen and Nussbaum, I will use the actantial model developed by Algirdas Julien Greimas in some of the analyses.
