dc.description.abstract | Background: Women's intake of fruits and vegetables and drinks during pregnancy can affect both mother and child health.Aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the dietary intervention in pregnant women in the Fit for Delivery study has had an effect on what their child is eating and drinking at 12, 24 and 48 months of age.Method: Pregnant women were recruited up to week 20 of pregnancy and were randomized to either a control or intervention group. Participants responded to food frequencyquestionnaires at different time points. Independent sample t-tests were used to analyze the difference in intake of fruits and vegetables and drinks between the groups. Linear regression analysis, adjusting for covariates, was performed on variables where significant differences were found..Result: There were no significant differences in fruit and vegetable intake between the intervention and control groups in the three measurements in children. The intake of sweetened juice (Norwegian: saft) when the children were 24 months was significantly different between the groups in favor of the intervention group. Even when I adjusted for relevant variables, the intake was lower (B = -0,121) in the intervention group than in the control group. Conclusion: The intervention in pregnancy may have led to a reduction in the intake of sugared juice in the children of the intervention group's mothers. There was a significant difference even when adjusted for covariates. However, the discovery must be interpreted with caution since it was only observed at 24 months of age. Background: Women's intake of fruits and vegetables and drinks during pregnancy can affect both mother and child health.Aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the dietary intervention in pregnant women in the Fit for Delivery study has had an effect on what their child is eating and drinking at 12, 24 and 48 months of age.Method: Pregnant women were recruited up to week 20 of pregnancy and were randomized to either a control or intervention group.
