How can we look at different parts of the world and understand both crisis management, critical thinking and policy making? Although this questing is not overly specific and does not imply the level of research that is needed to even understand the different terms in this question, the overall concept of understand something that happens within a state is a fair enough question when presented with a crisis. In this case it is the need to understand how the three different Nordic states have managed and overseen the COVID-19 outbreak in their respected states. The outbreak reached the European borders not long after its first appearance in the media. As the news of many southern European countries made the headlines, the northern states wasted no time in mapping out their responses. This meant that each state laid out a plan for overcoming and surviving this pandemic with the least number of casualties involved. Cases such as Norway, Sweden and Denmark had all to some degree different political views on the matter and therefore affected their political dictions in creating and overseeing measures to handle the pandemic. This thesis seeks to understand these approaches that have been used by the different states. By doing so we can explore the following question: Have the different approaches yield different results? Understanding that by looking at three politically, geographical, and socially similar nations we can try to grasp how managing the same crisis in different ways is done with the help of not just one strategical approach. We explore this by following a most similar case study, using the different nations as case subjects, and reviewing and comparing their approaches. The objective here is to establish a clear overview of the different measures the selected cases have used in their approach. We do this by using the data collected from each country as well as reports and other literature on the outbreak and maintenance of the pandemic. These reports indicate to some degree a level of policy making dictions to withstand the aftereffects of the outbreak.
