The theme of this master’s thesis focuses on developmentally disabled people experiencing grief, and how employees working in municipal care homes take care of them through this process. To highlight this issue and develop a deeper understanding, I have undergone a qualitative explorative research method in which I have interviewed care givers working at different municipal care homes. The understanding of grief and its expression has changed over time. In recent times, the previous myths have been challenged by new insights (Dyregrov & Dyregrov, 2017).
