Previous studies on enjoyment in sport have shown that the term leads to increased motivation and continued participation in organized sport. Research has also demonstrated that enjoyment in sport can be experienced from different sources. Based on these findings, the purpose of this study was to continue the research on the subject by conducting a summary of the existing literature. The research question that framed this study was to investigate what the literature has found about enjoyment in children's and youth sports in the timeframe 1980 to 2020. The study was conducted as a scoping review and followed the research method of Arksey and O'Malley (2005). The studies were identified by conducting database searches in three databases; SPORTDiscus, APA PsycINFO and MEDLINE. 2264 studies were identified through the database search, where a total of 32 were included in the analysis. The results showed that the experience of enjoyment in children's and youth sports can come from perceived competence, external support, mastery climate, experience mastery, positive cohesion and high effort also showed to increase the experience of enjoyment in sports. Present study showed that enjoyment in children's and youth sports increases motivation, sports commitment, effort and improves performance. Based on the results of this study, a model was also developed for the sources and outcomes of enjoyment in sports.
