Medvirkning – til glede eller besvær? : Et casestudie av ikke-deltakelse i områdesatsingen på Storhaug i Stavanger

Abstract

This thesis is about citizen participation in planning processes, with an approach that seeks to examine who does not participate and why they do not. The ongoing district initiative in Storhaug district is used as a case for the project. The aim is thus to map the causes for non-participation amongst citizens in Storhaug district in the period between 2014-2020, and explore how this might bring about challenges for planning processes. This consider literature on relevant democracy theory, participation theory and research literature about non-participation and the meaning of “space” in citizen participation processes. With help of interviews with citizens and professional actors in the municipality, as well as observation of several citizen participation methods, this thesis aims to find answers.
