Background -VAR Healthcare (VAR) provides up to date clinical procedures, which means that the users won't have to develop these themselves. VAR has become a big player in Norway and provides its services to health trusts, municipal health services and educational institutions. There has been previous attempts to develop a national database for clinical procedures by the government, but this project was set on hold in 2018. This puts VAR in a unique position in the Norwegian market. Purpose –This study examines the experiences of nurses in two Norwegian municipalities which uses clinical procedures from VAR. Their experiences will be categorized into eight dimensions from the new sociotechnical model by Sittig & Singh. This model will show how the different experiences relates to each other, and which of the dimensions who could be addressed to optimize the use of VAR. Method and Population –To examine this, a qualitative approach was chosen and a population of ten nurses from two municipalities were interviewed individually. Results –All of the informants uses VAR to some degree. They experience that the clinical procedures are more adapted to a workflow in a hospital opposed to a municipal home based care. Even though the leaders did not provide clear guidelines for use, the use of VAR was not affected by this. Challenges with internet connection, limited or no access to functional handheld units has led to a practice were nurses are using prints when visiting patients. Conclusion–The informants sees VAR as a good tool. The analysis of the data shows how some dimensions from the model could be addressed locally to optimize the use of VAR.en_US
