Title: Human and machine. Dagens Næringsliv’s coverage and the impact of digitization on social development Purpose: To show how humans and machines are portraited in the newspaper coverage and the impact of digitization on social development. Issue: How does Dagens Næringsliv covers the digitization of labor as an issue? To clarify this issue, I have divided it into the following subproblems: Why is this an interesting topic? What does Dagens Næringsliv report about future digital workplace? Choice of method: A text analysis of newspaper texts in Dagens Næringsliv from 01.01.2017 to 31.12.2017 studies the linguistic dimension. I have done a discourse and rhetorical analysis of selected newspaper texts. Identifying identities and relationships will be possible by using a critical discourse analysis as a method in which both text, context and mutual influence are included in the social practice. To get in-depth of the question, the problem should be answered using the qualitative method as the main method. Quantitative methodology is to be used as an additional method for obtaining an overview of the relevant data material, which in this assignment is newspaper texts. The selection process is part of mixed methods that are a mixture of qualitative and quantitative research approaches. Main conclusion: The completed text analysis reveals two discourses that dominate the most. The first is the discourse of strategic thinking about the future. In Dagens Næringsliv the public sector is covered as a significant contributor, which provides the credibility of this discourse, by proving that cooperation with the private sector pays off for future digitization on society's development. The second discourse is about political alternatives. This discourse takes on public engagement at a wider level. The common theme is that future growth and welfare systems require the government to develop the right digitization strategy. Successful digital transformation presupposes clearer political leadership. Dagens Næringsliv’s coverage of digitization is largely supportive and positive.nb_NO
