Business Oriented Work Inclusion The Salutogenic approach to work inclusion through the LEIDA model: Illustrated by a case study
Abstract
Background: Unemployment is a public health challenge and contributes to widening the social health gap. As unemployment rates drop and the need for a more qualified workforce increases businesses face a challenge to find qualified workers, and or to begin to think differently.
Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study is to investigate if the work inclusion model, LEIDA, influences the motivation of candidates that were recruited via NAV to complete their qualification process.
Research Question: In what way has the LEIDA model effected the candidate’s sense of mastery competence and motivation to continue in employment and begin the process towards qualification?
Method: The data was collected through semi-structured interviews, 6 individual interviews, and one interview with 2 informants from the NAV office functioning as the NAV team.
Results: This study found that a salutogenic work environment through promoting a sense of belonging, and viewing people as a resource motivates and promotes mastery in work competence.
Conclusion: The LEIDA project did indeed influence the motivation and mastery competence of the candidates to proceed towards proper qualifications.
