The focus of this thesis is labor inclusion in Nordic Choice Hotels. My starting point for writing a master ́s thesis on this is the unemployment in Norway, and an interest in what effects being unemployed has for the individual, as well as how companies relate to an inclusive working life. It is especially the challenges of entering the labor marked for young people with mental disorders, as well as refugees and people with immigrant background, that has triggered my interest for the field. I have chosen to use Nordic Choice Hotels to illustrate the complexity of work inclusion as a phenomenon and will use a discourse analytic approach to accomplish this. The purpose is to investigate the various discourses that are expressed in Nordic Choice Hotels presentation of work inclusion, and how these can be understood in relation to prominent criticism of the hotel chain in the Norwegian context (at the beginning of the 2000s). When it comes to the data material, I have Chosen an abductive approach. This means that I have started with the empiricism, but both theories and perspectives have come to play both at the forefront and during the research process. Michel Foucault is considered essential to understand discourse analysts and has developed power and discourse concepts that are central to my thesis. Norman Fairclough, based on Foucault, has developed an alternative approach to discourse analysis. It is Fairclough ́s model of critical discourse analysis that has served as both theoretical and methodological framework for the task. In addition, Erving Goffman has been a central theorist who complements the analysis.en_US
