dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present study was to (1) examine meal frequency among Norwegian boys and
girls between the ages of 15 and 17, and investigate the possible relation with educational
level among their father and mother; and (2) describe the intake of healthy and unhealthy
food- and beverages among Norwegian boys and girls and investigate the possible relation
with educational level among their father and mother.
This master thesis includes an introduction part, an elaboration of theoretical and methodical
aspects of the study, and finally the article that summarizes the results. After the introduction
follows a presentation of meal frequency and dietary habits and the relation between these
among children and adolescents. Then an elaboration of social inequality in health, meal
patterns and dietary habits are presented both in general and among children and adolescents.
Finally, the applied method, including design, study sample, data collection procedure and
measurements are described, a presentation of additional results followed by a discussion of
the methodology and of the additional results.
After the master thesis follows an article, which is prepared in accordance with the applicable
guidelines, and ready for submission to Nordisk tidsskrift for helseforskning. At the end
follows attachments to this master thesis.
