Sammendrag
Implementation of personnel staffing and scheduling information systems receives growing attention both nationally and internationally. Goals include improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of scheduling activities. Standardized scheduling activities, is expected to improve the quality of management information. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the implementation of Gat as a personnel staffing and scheduling information system at Sørlandet Sykehus HF. Data material was gathered through a quantitative survey based on defined scheduling activities through the RAPS-tutorial. The questions were categorized based on the theoretical framework developed by DeLone and McLean. The survey was distributed by e-mail to the executive leader of every unit at Sørlandet Sykehus HF. The survey achieved a 55 % response rate. Results indicate differences in scheduling activities between units. While some respondents report on a functional system with better overview over personnel and available resources, this view is not shared by all units. Functionality and experienced quality, attitude towards the information system and professional background seem to be important factors influencing the overall impression of the system. The study concludes that for the majority of users, Gat is a functional scheduling system. To be able to widen the use of Gat, achieve user acceptance and heighten the quality of management information one has to address each unit and their need for further functionality and flexibility. There is a need for further education of users together with clearly defined strategies for the use of management reports.
