Sammendrag
This thesis focuseson the study, approach and use of old objects in a work of art. The theme was chosen based on an interestin history, and a rich group of artefacts from the last century. The collection consists of everything from kitchenware,to a large collection of hats from various decades. The main objectivehas been to get closer to these old objects, in order to capture some of their essence. Both theoretical and creative processes have been used,in an attempt to understand what they can tell us. The artist / researcher also had a desire to invite the reader / viewer into a carefully curated world of things.Asaresult of this other people mightget more aware of the objects they have around them. The final artwork has become an orderly and visual archive, where everything from the physical properties of the items to the owner’s relationship ismapped. The value of old everyday thingsare heightened, due to them beingincorporated in an artwork. Thewritten part of this thesis in particular, can be considered as a potential tool for others who want to work with objects. The original title of the written part of this projecthas two of itsmost import terms within4. For the English translation I’ve landed on the expression: The little things in life. The Norwegian name given to the artwork is To sider av samme sak. This is similar to the English expression two sides of the same coin.
