Hvordan opplever pasienter som har hatt et akutt hjerteinfarkt og fått PCI behandling informasjonen de har mottatt under sykehusoppholdet
Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to find out patients experience of the information that they
received during hospital stay after being through acute myocardial infarction and
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
Method: Semi structured interview was conducted with a purposive sample of five
participants who were interviewed after discharge from hospital.
Findings: Data analysis revealed that patients find it difficult to remember the information
after the acute phase of AMI. Patients are satisfied with general information about AMI, but
experienced lack of individualization of information resulting in anxiety, uncertainty about
various symptoms that made it difficult to manage everyday activities after discharge.
Conclusion: In order to contribute to patient’s satisfaction, the information during
hospitalization must be individualized. Patients need support from help care professionals to
address important issues that they are concerned about. Well planned information meetings
are necessary to improve patients understanding of their condition and increase their ability
to manage challenges during recovery from AMI.
